Bike to Work Victoria (BTWV) is looking for a dynamic, creative and versatile person to join our team to help organize Bike to Work Week 2010.
The Event Coordinator position offers the opportunity to work on a highly successful and growing community event in its 16th year.

The successful applicant will be required to:

• Organize & prepare event logistics
• Maintain and develop existing and new food and beverage & bike shop sponsors for BTWW
• Recruit and organize volunteers
• Develop a media plan and timeline
• Write media releases and articles
• Assist with set-up and take down of “celebration stations” during BTWW
• Prepare promotional material for participants
• Approach companies to encourage participation in BTWW at their work site
• Summarize results and provide information for final report
• Handle enquiries and walk-in traffic
• Update Website, Twitter and Facebook pages
• Organize and deliver program workshops

Qualifications:

• Strong writing, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
• Able to work independently and follow through on projects with minimal direction
• Efficiently perform a variety of duties often changing from one task to another
• Able to prioritize and organize projects effectively
• Media relation skills
• Excellent Computer skills- Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite (especially Adobe InDesign an asset )
• Event planning experience an asset
• Interest and /or knowledge of active transportation & active living.
• Must regularly bike to work
• Must have flexibility with hours of work

This is a full-time temporary position. Starting date TBD ( late Feb or early March)
and finishing in late June or early July.

Hours: 35 hrs/ per week. Some evening hours required. Hours will be variable during the week of the event (May 31 – June 6).

Event coordinator will report to the Executive Director of BTWV.
Wage range is .$14-16 per hour dependent upon experience
