Bike to Work Whistler History
Bike to Work Whistler was originally brought to Whistler in 2008 by Glenn Iles of Whistler Wellness. Seeing a perfect fit between biking, health and wellness, Glenn asked to create Whistler as one of the B.C. communities participaing in Bike to Work Week.
The RMOW thanks Glenn for his initiative in bringing this event to Whistler and is working alongside Whistler Wellness to further encourage businesses, schools, and residents to bike to work, school and play in an effort to improve Whistler’s air quality, lower Whistler’s carbon foot-print, and generate better health and wellness all around.
What does bike to work week entail? Well….it’s quite simple… ride your bike to work, school or play during Bike to Work Week starting Monday, May 11th to Sunday, May 17th. Already ride your bike everyday? Then take the challenge and encourage a colleague, friend, or family member to join you so that they can begin to reap the benefits of an alternative transportation lifestyle.
From Monday, May 11th until Friday May 15th,you can also attend several Bike to Work week events that will be happening throughout the community. Check back in mid-April for dates, times and locations of events.
Registration will begin April 7th.
We are also seeking sponsors, volunteers, and prizes for this event.
