Getting Ready for BTWW
Here are some tips to assist you to get ready and be comfortable to Bike to Work. Simple A,B,C,D bike check:
- Check the air in your tires (PSI will be listed on tirewall)
- Brakes – these are important to have checked by a professional
- Chain – should be clean and oiled
- Doubt? Contact your friendly neighbourhood bikeshop!
Other tips:
- Plan your route and test it out to see how long it will take.
- Give yourself lots of time until you become comfortable with the route.
- Enlist a buddy who can provide support if you need it (i.e. guidance, pick-up).
- Dress in layers to control your body temperature.
- Helmet – make sure that it fits properly and is not more than five years old.
- Saddlebags or panniers work great to carry items to work.
- Keep hydrated.
- Most importantly, have fun and enjoy yourself.
