BTWW 2009

The main reason people cycle to work? It’s fun!! And we’re making it "funner"!

Bike to Work Week is back in the Cowichan Valley for the second time Monday May 11th to Sunday May 17th! Talk to your workmates, put up notices, get a team together for your worksite and register above.

Somebody at your worksite not sure they want to participate?  Tell them about the prizes – see the "Prizes" link on this page!

A BIKE TO WORK WEEK PRIMER

How much does it cost to participate in Bike to Work Week?

Nothing! Thank you to the support of our community sponsors all aspects of the event (except the T-shirts) are 100% free!

Are walkers, rollerbladers, bus riders or those travelling by means other than driving alone counted?

No. Bike to Work Week is focused solely on cycling.

How big is my team?

Your team size is not the number of cyclists participating but rather the total number of people in your workplace.

For really large employers (over 50 staff) you may break into smaller teams and then count the total staff from your area. For example, a large government building should have several team leaders and break into floors or departments.

This structure encourages more people to join a team, because the more participants, the higher the rate of participation!

Does my name get used in the registration?

No. The team leader only reports numbers of riders and total employees. As above, we do need your name and contact information sent to us for inclusion in the Friday afternoon draw. This is voluntary. Let your team leader know if you want your information withheld.

T-shirts

Keep an eye out for the T-shirts. They’re around town and "Oceana" is this year’s Cowichan colour! All of these beautiful people came out on April 18th to model T-shirts (oh yeah, and to ride) for the launch of Bike To Work Cowichan 2009.

Just $15!

T-shirts can be purchased at the Cowichan Green Community office at 277 Craig Street for only $15. Get one for yourself!Team leaders and sponsors get a free T-shirt!

They can also be purchased (or for team leaders, obtained) by contacting us at cowichan@biketowork.ca .

All proceeds from T-shirts go towards sustaining the Bike to Work Week event.
